Kanika Henry is a graduate from Arizona State University with her Master’s Degree in Social Work. Currently she is a Senior Crisis Intervention Specialist with the City of Chandler Fire Department’s Crisis Response Unit, going on 13 years (one of which was as an intern). At the Fire Department she works with individuals and families experiencing a crisis, such as deaths (infant, child and adult), suicides, homicides, substance abuse, sex assaults, domestic violence, house fires, homelessness, psychiatric crises, and various other traumatic situations. In June of 2014 she became a certified Compassionate Bereavement Care Provider.
She enjoys her field, and has a very humbled appreciation for working with those in crisis, and is a major advocate of victim’s rights. She has a relentless passion for specifically working with the traumatically bereaved. She engages in ongoing various continuing education training opportunities, with special emphasis on grief/death and trauma.
