Policy Advocate and Analyst

Trish recently finished her PhD at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln in Sociology (2010), with a Certificate of Public Policy Analysis. She was specializing in women's health and quantitative research methods as a graduate student when in, 2007, her second child, Myles, was stillborn at full term. Trish found the MISS Foundation online to be an invaluable source of comfort and support, she is currently a moderator and active member in the MISS online forums.

With help from the MISS Foundation, she began working with other bereaved parents in the state of Nebraska to pass a law allowing for a Certificate of Birth resulting in Stillbirth; the bill passed Nebraska in 2008.

Trish is currently a lecturer at UNL, a mother to her radiant daughter, Simone, an outspoken feminist/activist, and a volunteer with the MISS Foundation as a policy advocate and analyst. Trish is passionate about the issue of stillbirth and its role in the reproductive justice movement. Her future goals are to write and conduct research to publish in scientific journals in areas involving women's health, stillbirth, feminism and public policy.
