Kathy's daughter Kimberly Marie was lost in a flash flood in 2007. Her granddaughter narrowly missed drowning in the accident with her mother. Kathy co-founded the Winged Heart Foundation to educate and support bereaved parents and uses every opportunity to spread the word about the Miss Foundation and the support bereaved parents and grandparents can find there. Kathy is very grateful for the compassion, open arms, and open hearts she has experienced at the last two MISS conferences.

Kathy is an Assistant Professor for the University of Arizona south, managing two programs. One is Family Studies and Human Development and the other Human Services. Nothing she knows or teaches prepared her for the loss of her adult daughter. Every loss is different, every child special, and every parent's experience varies. Kathy will be honored to be of service to parents who need help transitioning through the loss process. Shared experiences create shared solutions.
