Co-Facilitator
Judy became involved with the MISS Foundation in honor of her 19 year old daughter, Pamela who passed away on November 12, 2007. Pamela started having seizures at age 16 and had her 6th one the night before she died. Pamela was the youngest of her three children. She was going to school full time at Mesa Community College and working part time at Tutor Time. She was a passionate young woman who had dedicated her life to working with children who have special needs. Since, she was the youngest. Judy and Pamela had such a very special bond. The last thing she taught her mom was to text on her phone. Judy cherishes the last text message from her.
Being raised in Traditional teachings she has had several ceremonies done to help with her grieving process but as soon as she returned to the city, she felt no one understood why she couldn’t do certain things for a period of time. Judy decided to become a co-facilitator of the Native American Grief Support group.
Judy works as a Crisis Intervention Worker for the Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community in Scottsdale, AZ. Her previous work include: Parent Educator for the Family and Child Education Program, Parent Educator for Child Find and Social Work in various Native American Communities.
Judy is Navajo from Low Mountain, Arizona. She has three children-all adults; Brad, Petrina and Pamela her angel. Brad’s wife is Tynnia. Judy is blessed with 5 grandchildren: Dakota, Trinity, Kai, Tatum and Colicchio. Judy and husband Jerry live in Gilbert. She loves to cook when she has time and is learning to scrapbook.
