HOPE Mentor

Jessie's son, Sage, died when he was 9 months old in a tragic car accident. Jessie's dad was also killed, and she was hospitalized with a broken pelvis and a shattered arm when their truck slid on an icy road into the path of a semi.

Since the accident in 2008, Jessie has explored grief and healing through blogging, the MISS Forums and Conference, and counseling. In 2009, she helped create the BabyLoss Eugene Support Group, and currently she is a co-facilitator of the group. Jessie also works as an early childhood interventionist and family support person at a non-profit organization.

She and her husband, Michael, have had another son, Mateo. She has chosen to volunteer as a HOPE Mentor because she wants to offer care and support to other parents who are walking the grief journey.
